Japanese cuisine is renowned for its rigorous taxonomy: each type of marinade, broth, piece of fish or meat has a specific name. The same goes for dressings… But not quite. Some sauces don’t fit into any of the more classic categories we’ve chosen. That’s why we’ve created the ‘Curiosities’ category.
Here you’ll find the less traditional sauces, the ones we can’t call ‘soy sauce’ or ‘ponzu’. Less noble, less ancient, these preparations are also the most playful, the tastiest and the spiciest: meat sauces with grilled onions or sesame seeds, sauces that are mildly or wickedly spicy, liquid smoked sauces… We’ll let you discover them all.
