Description
Furikake literally means “to sprinkle” in Japanese. An invitation that’s hard to refuse once you put your hand in the surprise bag. Surprise, because this confetti can be eaten in an infinite variety of ways, bringing joy and excitement.
This particular furikake is made from a base of toasted sesame seeds, crunchy glutinous rice (it’s possible, yeah, yeah), dried plum ume (ume is actually closer to an apricot), and soy sauce to spice things up. The result is a well-balanced, gourmet, and subtly umami powder with a noticeable touch of acidity.
Founded in 1977, Takusei specializes in sesame products. Its methods are artisanal, guaranteeing high quality and maximum enjoyment.
How to use:
Addictive, this furikake will liven up (visually and flavor-wise) just about any dish. You’ll soon find yourself sprinkling it everywhere: on rice, of course, but also on eggs, meat, salads and, why not, desserts. For example, it would be perfect on fior di latte ice cream, for a fusion dish with a kick!
