Description
Did you know? Grinding seeds reveals not only their aromas, but also their virtues. Sesame is no exception: whether white, black or blond, it’s best ground (or “pulverized,” a term that sounds a bit barbaric) into a powder. So it’s best to invest in a special mill, namely… a grinder.
Designed simply for the table (i.e. “discreetly”), the mill grinds the seeds coarsely, ideal for sprinkling on nabe, râmen and other donburi (the classics of Japanese cuisine), or for making gomasio (a condiment of roasted sesame seeds and sea salt that has been adapted many times).
Used in Asia since ancient times, sesame is widely cultivated for its seeds, which are rich in fiber, protein, minerals and antioxidants. These seeds, which are not used to make sesame oil or paste (also known as tahini in the Middle East), are best enjoyed as they are, lightly toasted and therefore… crushed.
That’s where this sesame mill comes in, neither red nor windy, yet an essential to have in the kitchen, where it’s sure to give you… grist to grind!
