Description
The famous sauce for breaded pork cutlets (and any other meat, really) in a version that’s as simple as it is pure. This tonkatsu sauce contains only fruit and vegetables grown in Japan and certified to JAS quality standards. It contains no additives: no flavour enhancers, no thickeners, no colourings, no preservatives.
Without these crutches, this tonkatsu sauce has a powerful umami and a perfectly balanced flavour between the sweetness of the fruit and brown sugar, the acidity of the onions and rice vinegar, and the saltiness of the soy sauce.
What’s more, unlike many sauces of this kind, it hasn’t been watered down. The result is a dense texture and pronounced length, ideal to accompany the most gourmet dishes without being overpowering. Not an essential, but a classic.
