Description
Call it a snack, candy, or delicacy, this product is unlikely to leave you indifferent. What is it? Almonds coated with a preparation based on Kyoto hojicha. It’s sweet, it’s original, it can be eaten without hunger, and you’ll come back for more (often).
But what is hojicha, you ask? In the family of Japanese green teas, it’s a little less well known than the now ubiquitous matcha and sencha, but it deserves to be. A blend of leaves and twigs known as bancha, this tea is roasted and ground much like coffee.
In fact, its taste is immediately reminiscent of coffee, the roasting giving this green tea intense toasted notes, similar to those of toasted bread. Smooth and woody, hojicha is elegant down to its amber-green color, which enhances these small flavor balls.
Use:
As original as they are, these coated almonds are the perfect accompaniment to a sweet break, whether in the morning, afternoon, or late at night (watching a movie, you know). It’s hard to stop when you’re enjoying their crunchy – and gourmet – taste, and so much for the calories.
