Description

A traditional umeshu from the Nate Shuzoten brewery, whose Kuroushi Junmai and Kuroushi Ginjo Omachi sakes we also recommend. This cuvée has a big advantage: it’s made in the heart of Wakayama, the benchmark prefecture for Japanese plums. It uses the best plums from this rural region, the Kishu Nanko. Harvested from the tree when fully ripe, these fruits are then soaked in sake (rather than neutral alcohol like most umeshu). The result: a full-bodied, tangy liqueur like a true plum ume. Unbeatable value for the money, in our humble opinion.

Storage:

Once opened, this umeshu should be stored in a cool place, ideally between 5 and 8°C.

Ingredients:

Sake, umeshu, water, sugar, corn syrup (alcohol: 13%).

Shelf life:

When stored under the above conditions, this Umeshu will retain its full flavor for months.

Serving:

We recommend serving this umeshu chilled, between 8 and 10°C. Purists prefer to serve it in a glass straight from the freezer to avoid adding ice cubes, which can dilute the liquor. You can also dilute it with sparkling water… Or even hot water, as is sometimes the case in the Japanese countryside.

Alcohol abuse is dangerous to your health and should be consumed in moderation.
