There’s always a soothing, mysterious scent in temples and beautiful Japanese homes. This unique scent is that of Japanese cypress – better known by its local name, Hinoki. Unable to teleport ourselves to the temples of Nara, we rediscover this uniquely Japanese scent with Kenkawai incense.
Kenkawai Japanese Cypress Incense was created on the island of Awaji by craftsmen known as Koh-Shi. For over 150 years, these master incense makers have refused to use synthetic fragrances: their sticks contain charcoal and Hinoki essential oil, nothing more.
