Description
Saga Prefecture is home to some of the finest rice in Japan. The Mitsuyoshi family farm produces exceptional rice. It grows on rich, black soil, thanks to a climate influenced by the Ariake Sea and the mountains that surround the area. The farm has been expanding since its founding in the Meiji era and has been marketing its rice under its own brand for several years.
Mitsuyoshi brown rice is packaged in a 350-gram format in a recyclable plastic bottle. This grain is characterized by its superior quality and pesticide-free cultivation. The fertilizers used by Mitsuyoshi consist of natural and organic products such as rice by-products, bran and husks.
Brown rice, called genmai in Japanese, is a whole grain rice. It is rich in fiber because it has not been hulled like white rice. Its nutritional value contributes to rapid satiety and its glycemic index is low. Its distinctive taste adds flavor to the dishes in which it is used. Yume Shikuzu rice is found only in Saga Prefecture and is the result of the work of a long line of farmers to create a grain that is both soft and firm. Its quality is regulated and controlled by the prefectural government.
If ever there was a need to accompany a meal with a memorable drink, Saga is also famous for its sake.
