Warning, star product!
What do you mean, you haven’t heard of tsuyu? It’s an essential sauce in Japanese cuisine, used as a base for many dishes (ramen, soba…). And for good reason: it’s a concentrated form of the famous “fifth taste”, also known as umami.
At Shibanuma, a soy sauce producer in Ibaraki Prefecture (north of Tokyo), the tradition of artisanal soy brewing goes back 18 generations. This barrel-aged Tsuyu sauce is the perfect synthesis of their experience and high quality standards.
Its rich umami and mild, slightly smoky flavor will bring out the best in your simple or more elaborate preparations.
How to use:
This tsuyu sauce is the finishing touch to your soups, fish dishes, tempura and scrambled eggs. Just a few drops make all the difference (but don’t tell anyone, it’s our little secret). In broths, we recommend diluting it with a ratio of 1 volume of Tsuyu to 2 volumes of water.
